Dec 1: Our last weekend in Ukraine

12/1/07: Day 10 of the 10 day wait.

We finally felt like we were seeing light at the end of the tunnel. We only had to get through this day and one more, and then we could go get our son forever.

And so once again, we found ways to kill time. We slept until 10:30, and then got up and watched sermon #7 of the sermon series. We got cleaned up and set out walking. We walked west on Lenina (away from the city). We walked through the open market that comes to life on Saturdays. We took pictures and video-taped some of it.

Then we went to AmStor and did some shopping. We went back to our apartment and made hot ham & cheese sandwiches for lunch. I wrote up a blog post and saved it on the jump drive. We went to the internet cafe and updated the blog, checked email, and talk to our parents on Skype.

As we were leaving, I stopped to talk to one of the guys who works at the cafe and knows a little English. He had been so helpful over the past few weeks. I asked him if he would be there tomorrow and he said no, so we said our good-byes and thanked him for all his help.

We walked to Abzhora and bought one more 6-liter jug of water. We also picked up several of our favorite Milka bars to take home to our family. (We've since learned that you can buy Milka bars here, but we've yet to find the one flavor that was our favorite.)

As we were walking back to the apartment, Zack commented that the next day would hopefully be our last full day in Mariupol. We got in and took off our soggy coats. We watched the final episodes of 24 Season 4, and had dinner. We did some more packing, and then went to bed and listened to Christmas music.
