We are in Kyiv!!
After more than 24 hours of travel, we are in Ukraine. We had safe travels, and enjoyed our time in Germany. Things didn't work out as we'd hoped in that we never were able to find our friends at the airport. But we managed to make our way into town for a little while.
We are so glad to be to our destination now. It was wonderful to see our friend L at the airport, waiting to take us 'home'. He was so good to come in the middle of the night to get us. I can't tell you how excited I am to be here, and how strange it is to be back. As we drove towards our apartment, I realized that I really have missed this place.
Our flight arrived at 1:30 AM. We were standing in a long line in customs and William had totally reached his limit. Waiting to go through all the lines for immigration, etc., Zack was holding a boy who could stay awake no longer, and I was holding all 3 of our carry-on bags. One of the workers took pity on us and let us go to the front of the line. We made it through there, and walked to baggage, where our bags were just coming off the belt! We then breezed through everything else, and were soon in the comfort of L's roomy van and on our way to our apartment.
We're staying very close to Independence Square. I'm excited to get out and explore later, once the boys are awake.
