Groundhog Day

I think at some point in every Ukrainian adoptive family's trip, they reach this point.
Every day seems like the day before. We do the same things. We lose track of what day of the week it is. Lots of waiting.

So we thought we'd give you a glimpse of what we do outside of Graceland's gates...

We typically have a simple lunch of meat, cheese, bread, and chips. And in the evenings, we normally cook dinner.
Last night, we had some yummy vareniky (Ukrainian dumplings).

We also bought some of the cherry vareniky for dessert. They were okay, not great. We're going to try cooking them a different way tonight and serving then with vanilla ice cream. You can't go wrong with ice cream... I hope!
Here's what we like to do most afternoons... nap!

After our nap today, we decided to walking. We walked for close to 2 hours (that included a quick trip to the grocery on our way back). We're looking for some restaurants our friend Jonathan told us about. Didn't find them yet, but we think we know where they are now. So maybe we'll try again tomorrow.
Here we are in front of a jazz club.

Zack & William posing in front of some beautiful flowers (and the tree-lined corridor behind them was also beautiful!)

This part of the walk was a bit sketchy. Not many pedestrians, some really interesting smells, and some extremely rough sidewalks.

We found a Billa grocery store. Didn't know there was one of these in this city - we'd only ever seen it in Kyiv. We took a pic, but didn't go in. Too far from the apartment to carry groceries!

This building is being renovated. I was encouraged by this, as so many buildings are such a mess here. It's amazing what a good coat of paint can do!

A band was setting up to play here...

A corner restaurant

Some interesting art on the side of a building

Apparently the city's team won a championship

And of course, every city has lots of statues and monuments

Thanks for the glimpse into the "waiting life" in Ukraine! The pictures are wonderful, and the afternoon naps sound GREAT!

Saying prayers for your court appointment...

I am so glad to be able to check your updates (we've been on vacation)! I am so glad you have found your second son, and I like the creative photos, but I do look forward to seeing his sweet face :)
